FAVOURITE SETTING SPRAYS

By Jue Douglas

Hiya again and thank you for stopping by. I hope you are all well and life is treating you kindly.
Today it’s so cold my hands feel like they can’t type so let’s bring some warm fuzziness onto the blog by talking about things that I love.
As it’s a New Year I thought I would start off with my favourite type of post talking about products that I love. Normally on these type of posts I don’t really like to mention the products that don’t float my boat but as my post isn’t sponsored I can give you a truthful opinion so you don’t waste your money on products that aren’t so good. It’s sort of my New Years Resolution to talk about products I don’t really like instead of just not saying anything at all.
Months back I didn’t use setting sprays ( I can hear you gasping in horror!) I thought it was fancy gimmicky water in a bottle. Some of them I still do, so I thought it might be a good idea to tell you a few of my favourites and ones that I’m not so keen on.
Now this is just my opinion and I know different people have different skin types. Mine can be quite oily ( especially at this time of year when I’ve been eating to many chocolates) and I do like a matte finish that lasts me all day. So I’m just going to judge this on my skin type.

First my favourite and I’m on my third bottle of this. It’s the ESSENCE INSTANT MATTE  SETTING SPRAY. This is £3 and is the smallest bottle of all the four that I have tried.
It hasn’t got a smell and sprays just the right amount on your face. It dries super quick as well which I find is a bonus. It doesn’t smudge your makeup either. It has amazing staying power and makes most foundations last that extra bit longer ( even the not so good ones)  My only gripe is the size of the bottle and I’m on my third already, but at the price I can’t really grumble.

My second choice has to be the BARRY M MIST & FIX MATTE FINISH SETTING SPRAY £4.99
I’m a big fan of the Barry M range, infact there nail varnish is second to none. So I was hoping this was going to be a good product.
Where as it does set your makeup and you get a long lasting effect I find the spray comes out a little bit too fast ( if that makes sense) so I find it’s a lot nicer to spray a beauty sponge and dab it on your face. I just did my t zone and found it did the trick.
This would probably be my go to setting spray as you do get a bigger bottle if the spray on the top was a little finer as I love it so much.

The third setting spray that I want to talk about is the MAKEUP REVOLUTION PRO FIX £5. I have to admit this is the one I was most excited to try. The fact it has pro in the title makes me think it’s going to be abit special.
I have to admit I was slightly disappointed that again the spray didn’t spray evenly and did spray into my eyes, I’m sure you’re ment to close your eyes!!!!!! ( it made my mascara run a little as well) It smelt chemically and again I found it was better to apply with a sponge which I find defeats the whole idea of a spray product. It did make my face a little shiny as well. But that said it doesn’t say it’s a Matte product on the label. I found I had to use pressed powder to take the shine away but after that it did make my foundation last all day and I was happy with the results.

Now for the worst!
I’m so sorry RIMMEL but I didn’t get on with #INSTA FIX &GO one at all.
This one is a 2 in 1 Primer and setting spray so it’s a good product on paper.
I had high hope and had read such good reviews I’m sure its me that is wrong but I did end up giving it to a friend as I didn’t want to waste it. The friend is still my friend so I’m assuming she loves it but hasn’t said anything about it.
It didn’t set any of my makeup and found I had to use extra pressed powder as well. It smells very chemically as well. I am wondering if I bought a dodgy batch but at £7.99 it’s too pricey for me to repurchase if I didn’t like it.
I hope you have found my little review useful.
If you have used any good setting sprays that I haven’t mentioned please leave me a comment as I’m always keen to try new products
Until next time
