MAYBELLINE GIGI HADID FIRST IMPRESSIONS

December 02, 2017

By Jue Douglas

Hi again and thank you for stopping by. I hope you are having a lovely week and life is being kind to you.
I’m currently writing this in the freezing cold as my boiler has broken so not warmly fuzzy times in the Juelook household.
This week I was super excited to receive some of the GIGI HADID MAYBELLINE products. I am a big fan of this new release from Maybelline as I do love a celeb colab. Gigi has been the face of Maybelline since 2015, so it’s probably about time she had her own range. I love the fact she’s chosen to do partner upwith Maybelline as she has a young fan base who might not be able to afford higher priced products. ( I’m thinking Fenty beauty here with Rihanna.)

The range is divided into two there’s the East coast range and the West Coast range. Both are in simular packaging but different shades and types of products.
I only have been able to get hold of a few bits but I thought it would be nice to tell you about the range as a whole even the products I am yet to try.

First of all the packaging is beautiful. It’s a beautiful nude packaging with holographic writing on. The packaging is so pretty and would look gorgeous in any handbag or makeup bag.

The range contains
LIP PRODUCTS
which I have to admit have to be my favourite product of the collection that I have tried. Even though these are matte they are so comfortable and non drying and very long lasting. Perhaps more so than a normal matte lipstick from Maybelline.
MATTE LIPSTICKS £8.99 and the LIP LINERS £5.99 in 6 shades
Austyn
Erin
McCall
Taura
Khair
Lani

They are also available in a Lip Kit priced at £12.99 where you get both to compliment each other or you can buy them separately if you’re like me and not always want a lip liner.
I love how GIgi herself has named the lipsticks names that seem to be personal to her. I would so do that if I had my own makeup brand.

MASCARA
LASH SENSATIONAL MASCARA £10.99.
This to me seems like the usual Lash Sensational formula but in a different packaging. The packaging a little bit more luxurious on the Gigi one but it’s a few pounds dearer.
FIBER MASCARA £11.99
I was very excited to try this especially with the fibres as I do love a eye makeup product that does contain a little bit of something. You can’t really go wrong with a Maybelline mascara and this one doesn’t disappoint.

TINTED PRIMER £9.99
This is available in two shades Medium Deep and Light Medium. These both leave a lovely dewy finish. I would have liked to see a foundation in the range as well as a tinted primer, as this wouldn’t be enough coverage for me with all my flaws.
It does swatch really nicely and feels lovely on the skin.

LIQUID STROBE £9.99
In two shades Gold and Iridescent.
I never normally really use liquid strobe ( I prefer to highlight and contour) and if I was to use it I would use a powder as I feel you have more control with a powder product. I’m not really a fan of the strobing trend as I think I look like a disco ball. ( that might just be me with my big moon face) this one feels nice and the Iridescent shade is my favourite out of the two.

BLACK LIQUID EYELINER £7.99
This is a very easy eyeliner to use and I find you can achieve an amazing winged cat eye with it. It has a very long nib which makes applying very comfortable and even though it’s not waterproof lasted me and my emotional self all day without any smudges.
GEL EYELINER £6.99
In two shades nude and Black.
I never seem to use a pencil eyeliner as I prefer liquid liner but this one goes on a lot smoother being a gel than a normal pencil and even though it’s pricey for a pencil liner it is really good and has good staying power. I haven’t tried the nude shade yet but I’m sure the formula will be just the same.

EYESHADOW PALETTES £13.99
In the shades Warm and Cool.
These are really pretty colours in both palettes and even though I haven’t tried these particular products, I have used Maybelline Eyeshadows in the past and have always been very happy with them.
JETSETTER PALETTE £29.99
Containing Two Concealers,
Two lipliners
Four Eyeshadows
One blush
One matte bronzer
One highlighter and
A mini volume express mascara
This palette contains everything you need for a full face (except foundation but you could get away with using just the concealer if you have good skin.
This palette is quite expensive at £29.99 but you do get a lot for your money and would be perfect as an all in one product which is what it’s aimed to do.

There are also two eye makeup brushes available these are
Eye Contour Brush £7.99 and
Eye Shawdow Brush £7.99.
I love the fact there are two brushes and would love there to be more. The brushes themselves seem to be in the Same price bracket as say Real Techniques. The brushes are a really pretty shade and I would love to give them a go in the future.

I hope you have found this post useful and if you have tried any of these products please let me know what you think as I would love to know.
I’m sorry I haven’t been able to do a review on all the products and I will definitely try the all in the future.
There are lots of 3 for 2s on Maybelline in Boots and Superdrug
https://www.superdrug.com/microsite/maybelline/gigi-hadid
Both these include the full range as I can’t seem to get hold of any of it in my local stores it’s available on the offer online. ( with a free Gigi gift)
Later this week I will be back with you for my JUELOOK AVENT CALENDER FAVOURITES when I will be showing you 24 products for the run up to Christmas that I have been loving
Until next time
