THE BODY SHOP MATTE CLAY SKIN CLARIFYING FOUNDATION

Well hello again you lovely lot and thank you for stopping by. I hope all is well with you and life is being kind. All is a little better in my house at the moment. The illnesses are clearing up thanks to Broncho Stop!!! ( not sponsored, I wish it was,but it’s amazing stuff).
Now you all know by now my love of a drugstore/ Budget foundation and trying to find the perfect one can be abit of a hassle.
Now don’t get me wrong I have dabbled with higher end foundations and I do like Estée Lauder Double Wear ( when I was given a sample to try last year) but I can’t jusify spending £32.50 on a base product.
It can be just as expensive trying to find a drugstore foundation if you can’t seem to find the right one.
Having read so many good reviews about THE BODY SHOP MATTE CLAY CLARIFYING FOUNDATION £9.99. I thought it was about time I checked it out for myself.
So the last few weeks or so I thought I would put it to the test.
First of all there are always offers for The Body Shop on there website or Voucher codes and the offer I found was 40% off instore. That to me seems such a good deal as this foundation cost me £6!!!! It’s really worth looking online for vouchers as I know sometimes it’s 30% which is still good and definitely cuts your shopping bill down especially if you’re buying a lot.
I am ashamed to admit I have never used a foundation by The Body Shop before so I had no idea of colours or shades. The Body Shop Makeup seems so underrated and I don’t know why as I really enjoyed browsing the stands and testing all the products.
The lady in the shop did want to colour match me but after my Estée Lauder Colour Match ( no one seems to know what shade I am) I thought I would try and do it by myself.
After trying a few on my hand!!!! ( I know I’m really bad aren’t I)
I found the shade Raily Beach 014 the best match for me. So off I went very excited to try out my new foundation.

Now the first thing I completely love about this foundation is the packaging, no fancy glass bottles, no pump, just a simple tube and if I had my way all Foundations would be packaged this way. So it’s an instant hit with me in regards to the packaging.
Now the promises on the tubes: Matte High Coverage, 24Hour Long Wear, 24Hour Shine Control, 24Hour Beathable Wear, Promotes Clearer Looking Skin, Non Pore Clogging.
All pretty impressive and if it’s any good that would be all the factors I’m looking for with a foundation.
Now for the day test. I can usually tell just by one day if I love a foundation or not and have been known to never use one again if I don’t like it from day one. I know my skin can change from day to day so I really need to try it a few times to get a proper feel of the foundation.
I used a damp sponge to apply as I think that’s the best way to apply a thicker foundation rather than a brush as it can make it easier to blend.
I didn’t use a primer but I never do and I am keen to try primers in the future ( any suggestions in good ones would be helpful)
It did blend really nicely and didn’t go on as you would expect a high coverage foundation to apply ( ie very difficult).
The liquid isn’t thick or goopy like some full coverage foundations which I was surprised about ( I would say it was a medium thickness) and went on super easily with an even coverage.
It smells really fresh as well. This is probably due to it containing Tea tree which you can really smell in the product. This makes you feel like you’re doing something good for your skin and not clogging it up.
The product does hide everything ( I have such a lot to hide)  and I just used a little pressed powder over the top as it’s sort of a ritual now after applying makeup whether I need it or not. This foundation probably doesn’t need it first thing but that doesn’t stop me.
At dinnertime the foundation is wearing well and I did my usual touch up with powder.
Close up it did settle in my fine lines but you would have had to get really up close to tell really but from a distance it was faultless.
By tea time it didn’t look as fresh as the morning but if I had of been going out again I could have gotten away with more pressed powder.
I do tend to get a few spots so I’m loving the fact that such a high coverage foundation can promote clearer looking skin and since using this foundation I haven’t had one spot ( watch me tempt fate now I’ve said said and wake up with a big spot tomorrow morning that will be so big it needs a name!!) but no honestly my skin does look a lot clearer!
All in all probably one of the most comfortable full coverage foundations I’ve ever used and if you can get it for £6 ( on the 40% off offer) it’s completely worth a try.
I can’t believe there hasn’t been more hype about this product as it’s one of those “Shout it from the rooftops” products.
If you have used this please let me know what you think as I love to hear other people’s views.
Until next time
