RIMMEL LONDON FAVOURITES

April 27, 2017

Rimmel London is one of the drugstore brands I feel most affection for. It's such an iconic brand that when we were at school if we had a piece of Rimmel in our little makeup bags it was something special. (Heather Shimmer lipstick springs to mind here and if we felt daring Coffee Shimmer).
Today after much of a revamp Rimmel is still a successful brand and with the likes of Kate Moss and Rita Ora behind them there key products are still as good of not better than they have ever been.
I thought in this blog I would talk about my favourite stand out products from the range that really are worth a purchase whatever your budget.

BASE
My favourite by far from the base range has to be the Stay Matte Pressed Powder. I have used this off and on since I was a teenager and still love this as much as the Mac Powder that I tried earlier this month.
At £3.99 it's a brilliant price and the shade I use is Transparent. There are other colours in the range but I always have used that one. My only fault of the Powder is it doesn't come in a little compact with a mirror.( I would so buy this and would be ideal for travel and handbags. But us girls can't have everything).
This week I have tried the Wake Me Up foundation from the range as it's on offer at £5.99 from Superdrug this week (usually £8.99). With its claims of skin brightening and anti fatigue I was sold. I used this foundation when it was first launched and found it made my face a little shimmery but I think they have changed the formula and is a lot nicer for me now. I usually use the Lasting Finish foundation from Rimmel if I had to pick my favourite,  but this one gives that one a good run for its money. It blends so well and smells amazing, infact I would go as far as to say it's the nicest smelling foundation I've ever used. The shade I got was the 103 true ivory at first when applied it looks a little dark for a ivory foundation but then it blends to a lovely shade and teamed with the powder it provides a beautiful base for other products.

EYES
I have said before that I have non existent or very sparse eyebrows (I'm blaming the 90s here) so I definitely need something to fill them in. I have used pencils before but after discovering the new Rimmel Brow powder I am hooked. At £5.99 it's a good price for a good product.  I wasn't sure which shade to try and I have made mistakes before so I picked the shade medium brown thinking that might be too light for my dark hair, but I have found it's the perfect shade. The little sponge tip brush gives out just the right amount of product and a lovely natural even finish with no smudges or fall out thought out the day, which is always a winner.
I have mentioned the eyeshadow crayon before in a favourites post and it's still a favourite stand out Rimmel product. It's from the Kate Moss range and is in the shade Rose Gold. The stick is so easy to use and it provides a lovely sheen wash of colour over the eyelids. There are other colours in the range but this one in my opinion is the prettiest. At £3.99 it's not a bad price either and does last a while and is easily sharpened with a large hold sharpener.

LIPS
I've definitely saved the best till last and this is my favourite product out of the whole Rimmel range. It's the only 1 Matte lipstick in the shade Trendsetter. At £6.99 it's a little bit dearer than a normal lipstick from Rimmel but I can honestly say it's such a beautiful long lasting lipstick. It lasts me well over 6 hours non stop (though endless cups of tea) and feels so comfortable on the lips and doesn't dry out at all. I would take this lipstick over any other high end lipsticks that I've tried and my favourite budget Matte lipstick.  I am yet to try more of the other colours in the range the only other one I've tried is Salute but Trendsetter is definitely my stand out favourite shade.

If you have any favourite Rimmel products you think I should try please let me know in the comments below and for those of you wondering, you CAN still buy Heather and Coffee Shimmer, I'm tempted to buy them both  for all times sake!
Happy shopping
