LEIGHTON DENNY HIGH PERFORMANCE NAIL COLOUR “WANDERLUST”

June 11, 2019

So, if you have been following my blog for a while you will already know the saga I’ve had with my nails. Last year I was finally able to grow them after being a nail biter for all my life. This in itself was a big deal. I love the look of freshly painted nails and generally don’t tend to wear them bare. So when I was kindly gifted some new polishes from Leighton Denny’s Wanderlust range, I couldn’t wait to try them out.
The Wanderlust range is the brands SS19 collection. It contains 6 brand new shade polishes that are designed for jet setters, sun seekers and dreamers of the high life. ( one out of three isn’t bad!!) The range includes colours and shades that reflect the latest trends and this collection showcases the perfect shades for your summer holidays. The shade names are super cute as well and all based around travel, for example the two I received are called JetSetter and On Cloud 9.
So let me tell you a little bit about the brand, because you guys know by now how much I love  a good brand back story.

ABOUT THE BRAND
The Leighton Denny brand was formed in 2005 by Leighton Denny MBE, who on the previous years of 2001, 2002, 2003 had won British Nail Technician of the year. In fact he was that good he was actually voted into the hall of fame as a judge in 2004.
Since 2005 the brand has evolved into one of the worlds leading award winning brands available.
The company uses advanced technologies and carefully chosen ingredients to create driven formations to include into all their products. That includes skincare for nails ( and feet, let’s not miss out those) not just nail polishes.
THE PRODUCT ITSELF
Firstly the packaging is really good. The bottles feel really sturdy and luxurious. You get 12ml of product in the bottle, so the brand doesn’t skimp on product. The screw top is made of plastic and is the perfect size to hold onto when applying the product. I love the fact that the brush wand is long which I find easier to use and the brush itself isn’t too thick. The brush also contains lots of bristles so the polish doesn’t go everywhere if you know what I mean.
I used the shade Jetsetter first, which is a beautiful dark navy shade. This from a distance looks black but it’s a lot more flattering on me than a black shade. ( FYI I was a goth years back so I tend to stay away from black shades now!). You can really see how beautiful the shade is in the sunlight.
I found I needed two coats of the product to get a good coverage on both the shades. The formula of this polish is quite thick but easy to work with and I found wiping the excess off the brush before I started made the formula thinner. I prefer to build up with thinner layers on my nails but I could probably have gotten away with one coat of the Jetsetter shade with it being a darker shade. I definitely needed two on the On cloud 9 one which is a white shade. I love the way the white shade looks in the sunlight as it has a pearlescent shine to it. This doesn’t really show up in the pictures. This would be perfect against a tan. Saying that all of them probably would do.
Both the shades went on smoothly and dried quickly. I would say two coats had completely dried within 5 minutes. This means you don’t have to wait around long for your nails to dry.

The formula is the same formula the company have been using since 2005. It’s free from Tosylamide Formaldehyde, Resin, Camphor, DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde. To be honest I’d never really given a thought to the ingredients in my nail polish until now, so its good to know that you can buy nail polish without these ingredients.
The shine on the end result is amazing. It’s probably the shiniest finish I’ve ever used from a nail polish. The shade doesn’t fade after a few days either, like some varnishes do.
The nail polishes were long lasting but I did have to retouch up the ends after a few days but I found you could do this really easily without having to redo your whole nails. This was very minimal and probably not really needed to be done it’s just me being picky.

I also went on to paint my toe nails with the Jetsetter shade! ( I fancied a change, but I haven’t included any pictures of my toes, you will be glad to know!!!) It’s so long lasting on your toes and didn’t chip at all. This is perfect for me as I hate painting my toe nails or messing with my feet in general. I am going away in a few weeks time and this polish will definitely be coming with me
