DR BOTANICALS MOROCCAN ROSE SUPERFOOD FACIAL OIL
May 11, 2019So if you had told me a year ago I would be putting oil on my face I wouldn’t have believed it. I’ve always been scared to use oils either on my hair or my skin. If you’re like me, just the word “oil” is frightening enough. Especially if you suffered with oily skin as a teenager.
As I’ve got older my skin has definitely got a lot drier than back in the day and gone are the days when I used to used anti shine products.
Skincare Oils have fast become a thing and after trying a few over the past few months or so I find I really enjoy using them into my daily facial routine.
I’m always on the look out for trying out new brands and Dr Botanicals has to be up there as one of the best.
So let me tell you a bit about the brand. I always like reading how the brand first started out and I do love a good back story..
Dr Botanicals was founded in 2011 by a gentleman called Richard. Richard wanted to follow in his fathers footsteps, as his Father had been a chemist helping people by making amazing skin treatments whilst working in a local chemist for over 40 years. In 1958 Richards father created innovative skin treatments while at the University in Edinburgh and Richard decided to continue his own skincare treatments that are available today.
THE PACKAGING
The packaging for all the Dr Botanicals products has a bit of a luxury feel. The oil comes in a lovely glass bottle with a droplet that actually works. You get 30ml of product which is about standard for a facial oil. The little bottle comes in a cute box which tells you the benefits and ingredients that the product has to offer. I love the design on the actual bottle, not just the box and it makes the product look super pretty.
INGREDIENTS
So this product does promise that’s it’s Infused with essential oils and botanical extracts for a brighter, more even skin tone.
Obviously it’s going to contain Moroccan Rose Oil as that the key ingredient but it also contains Almond Oil and Vitamin E. So it packs a punch when it comes to benefits to you skin.
MOROCCAN ROSE OIL
contains high levels or vitamin A and C, which aim to rejuvenate the skin, even skin tone and reduce visible signs of ageing.
ALMOND OIL
aims to deeply moisturise and nourish the skin, whilst brightening and renewing the appearance of the skin
VITAMIN E
aims to prevent skin damage and protect against damage and protect against damage from free radicals thanks to its anti-oxidant properties.
HOW TO USE
The packaging doesn’t say if the product is to be used everyday it just says use 2-3 drops onto cleansed face. Unsure of how to use it, I used it every evening after my usual skin care routine. The oil is quite thin so you really have to get in quick to rub it in but that’s like most oils. It felt gentle on my face and didn’t sting my eyes either.
I found it soaked in easily and wasn’t at all oily after a few minutes. The scent wasn’t overpowering and not really that obvious from the bottle but you do get a stronger scent when you are rubbing it into your face. It’s quite a nice subtle scent as well so that’s a bonus.
RESULTS
So the results.. well what can I say.. I’ve used it for a week and my skin definitely feels softer. I haven’t yet noticed if it’s evened my skin tone but my skin definitely looks brighter and my makeup sits better on my skin the next day, especially under my eyes.
My dry patches on my face, you know the bits where your foundation can settle into seems to have cleared up and appear less obvious.
I would love to carry on using the product over a longer period of time to see if it does reduce any visible signs of ageing and this will definitely be my go to oil when my face feels a bit on the dry side. (This happens a lot!)
